Immanuel Christian School was founded in 1986, when a group of parents sought to provide an excellent, Christ-centred education for their children. This founding group approved a constitution, established a membership, and elected the first board of directors. There were ten students enrolled in the opening year.
Since that time, the school has grown to include Junior Kindergarten through grade 9, with expansion to the high school years in September 2017. This year we have 118 students, our highest enrolment ever. We have an excellent student-teacher ratio, with our average class this year having 18 students.
The school is owned by an association of parents, friends, and alumni who are unified around a Reformed statement of faith. The membership is not associated with any one particular church or denomination. The nine-member board of directors is elected from within the ranks of the membership and is responsible for the governance of the school.
We have a very open admission policy: at present, 25 different churches are represented by our school families.
We are very excited to be starting a high school this fall. This has been in the works for several years, and it’s great to see the Lord blessing us with the resources needed to move ahead.
